The Samsung Galaxy View just doesn’t seem to be able to find a spot in many homes. And I honestly don’t know what I would do with it, to be honest. The 18.4-inch device is nice and large, but it won’t replace my TV, computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. I suppose an Android device this size would be good mostly for keeping around the kitchen?
Since its release last November, retailers selling the Samsung Galaxy View have dropped its price from $599.99 to the current low of $449.99 from Amazon. That is a price cut of 25%. Most likely, these companies are having a hard time finding buyers for such a huge tablet. Samsung is not marketing this as a regular slate, but as a large screened device for multi-media use.
The 18.4-inch screen features a 1920 x 1080 resolution. This works out to a pixel density of 120ppi, the lowest we have seen in some time. An Exynos 7580 chipset is under the hood, featuring an octa-core 1.6GHz CPU and a Mali T-720 MP2 GPU. 2GB of RAM is inside, along with 64GB of native storage. Those seeking additional memory can access the 128GB capacity microSD slot.
The only camera on the Galaxy View is a 2.1MP front-facing snapper, and a 5700mAh battery keeps the lights on for eight hours between charges. Android 5.1 is pre-installed.
